Prehistoric Art.. Stonehenge

Please read chapter one of Janson's History of Art.
Janson (page 44) defines a chromlech as a setting of religious rites. The most famous chromlech is Stonehenge. Imagine that you are able to invent a time machine and transport yourself to Prehistoric Stonehenge. Write a very short story accounting an event that could be witnessed on this adventure.. use descriptive language (touch, taste, smell, sound, and sight) and don't be afraid of humor. I want you to use your imagination. First five responses get five points extra credit!!

I just stepped out of my time machine and looked around at the Prehistoric Stonehenge. As I started walking around I found a ship parked to the left. I walked up to the ship with my fried Matt. Out of nowhere these mac computers starte wrapping there whires around use and pull us into the ship and fly off. I woke up in a white room and didn't see Matt anywhere. I heard screams coming from down the hall, the door opens and this master mac computer walks in and drags me down the hall to the screaming. We past the room and I say Matt being probed by one of the man computer. As we are getting closer to the room for me I starte thing " I should have never made that time machine and came to Prehistoric Stonehenge". I coud smell the mac wires all around me and feel the electricity flowing through the ship. The sound of my friend Matt screaming is fading away, the sight of the room drawing near, and TO BE CONTINUED ^_^
Stonehenge, Salisbury, England. 2600 b.c.e. I type it into my time machine and I am off. Within seconds I am there. I land with a loud boom that I am sure no one heard because according, to my calculations, the surrounding areas were just countryside. When I arrive, I am immediatly confused. I step out onto a rough, dry ground where there is hardly any grass. This should be an area full of lush green grass with blue skies and great English countryside, although this is not what I see here before me now. There are several men rolling huge stones on large tree trunks right up a hill. I think to myself that this site seems awfully familiar, but I don't consider it too much because I see up ahead men of a gangly sort. They were using all of their strength and might and any sort of tools they may come across to position large heavy stones in a sort of manner I have not yet placed. I am then startled by the noise of grunting behind me. I see in the distance, that there are even more men getting more of these huge stones from boats just off the coast. But wait, it looks as though everyone with these rocks is congregating at this same area on top of the nearby hill where the men are positioning the other stones. I go up to see what they have so far-accomplished. I then realize that I am watching one of the most famous prehistoric monuments being built, right before my very eyes. They are struggling to get the stones to stand up by levering one rock with a tree trunk and ropes on the opposite side with men pulling. I can't wait to watch the whole thing become reality when I hear the beeping from my time machine behind me and much chatter. I rush back to it just in time before too many people discover it. Lucky me, I only had a few more seconds before the time machine would have self destructed and I would have been lost in a strange unknown land.
After weeks of working on my time machine, I set it for ancient Roman times. As I activated the machine and walked through the portal, I noticed a small part over in the corner that was rolling around. It was too late. I emerged from the portal and all that I heard was the sounds of whips and the smell of blood in the air. As I walked out, a man in a robe asked me how I got out of the line. As I turned to go back through the portal, it was gone. With the crack of a whip, I quickly joined in the struggle as we pushed enormous stones that were on logs along a path. Many men fell to the side from sheer exhaustion. Once we had finally got the stone to the hill top, we were instructed to stand them up right. I watched as many men attached ropes around the stone. I was then told to push up on one of the many logs wedged underneath the stone. After a lot of hard work, pushing and pulling, the stone was finally erect. Just then one of the men in robes yelled, "Help those men place that stone on top of the two that are erect". Once I heard that, I turned and began to run. That was way too much for me. I didn't have the strength after standing the first stone up. As I ran, the men in robes began to pursue me. As I was about to collapse from sheer exhaustion, the portal opened back up in front of me. I quickly dove in and was wooshed back to my own time. As I opened my eyes I saw Keyon, my assistant, standing over me explaining that it took awhile to find me in the time line because of the part that was missing from the machine. I was home!
As I sit back in my leather chair, I anticipated the trip I was planning to take to look at Stonehenge. Setting the dial in my time machine I feel myself sink into the back of the chair as I interrupt the time continuum. Coming from my machine, I open the door to find myself in a field with many others around me poking at my contraption and looking at me. Suddenly they bow to their feet and praise me in a language I don't understand. The people themselves look almost like we do only more primitive. Within moments one of the men of the era grabs my arm and points to the the middle of the Stonehenge. My eyes widen as I smell the scent of burnt flesh and blood. Screaming, I throw the man off me and retreat to my machine quickly setting a course to get back to my time. When hitting the button and feeling the familiar pressure of time travel, I sigh and whisper to myself, "Screw Stonehenge I'm going to Medieval times."

The occupancy limit of my time machine could not exceed 10 people, therefore i had a difficult task on my hands of picking the right 9 people plus me to travel to the Iron age and visit the Stonehenge. The purpose of the mission was to examine the site and see if it was suitable for one of our circuit parties.
Although travel was instantenous, my friend Ian was getting anxious to see the site and tell us his vision.
Seconds later we were in the center of the chromlech, sorounded by the Sarson Circle, 30 perfect sandstone blocks. Ian immediately said that we should have all the dancers positioned on top of each block with lights behind them.
The DJ booth would be in the middle of the circle with a thin light beam behind the DJ.
The light would be transporting the binary code into space and when we returned to present we would be able to receive that code.
It was way too cold to keep listening to Ian's visions and the rest of my friends were getting anxious to return to the time machine.
The air felt strange to us and I decided it was time to go back home and build a time machine capable of brining all our guests to Stonehenge for the New Years 3000 celebration.
I appeared out of nothing but fragments of light. I had successfully transported myself to another time and it might as well be another world. It is spring here, I can tell by the constellations above me. It must be early morning; there is fog rolling through the low hills, it is thick and has a life of its own. It moves and swirls as if a dragon were sleeping nearby and exhaling steam from its stomach. The place where I have found myself smells of dirt and trees and has a crisp feeling whenever I breath in. I turn around and suddenly realised where I was. I was at Stonehenge.
It was oddly intact.
I was slightly fearful of moving and I was not sure that any of this was real yet.
If I moved, would I wake up in my bed?
As unreal as it all seemed, it was also too real to not be true. I walked slowly up to the nearest mammoth slab, which I recognise as the Sarsen Blocks, and I ran my fingertips across it. It was cold and rough. I heard a noise and it made me jump and turn. When I found the thing responsible for my near heart attack I almost laughed. It was just a handful of sheep. I turned back to my study of the formation of rocks and boulders. The fresh grass, not making a sound as I walked from stone to stone feeling and probing and ingraining the look and feel through my fingers into my head.
"I will never forget this place." I said.
All the while it was quiet except for the tearing of the grass as the sheep grazed nearby. It felt like it had been hours since I had originally appeared there. I was starting to feel "one" with the monument. I had touched every block and stone and I felt every bump and crevasse on them. I made my way to the focal point for one last look. It was the Altar Stone and the sun was rising, giving it a gold glow as if nature was pronouncing the sacredness.
I heard a dove fly off in a hurry a few yards back. I thought it would probably be more sheep; so, I turned slowly to observe what I thought was obvious.
I waited...
Nothing.
I was ready to turn around when I heard a foot fall three yards to my left.
The foot falls picked up speed and grew louder.
My heart raced. Where is there to hide! This thing is clearly aware of me and my current position!
This was not a dream.
This was real!
The thing was giant and hairy. It resembled a man but under all the clothes and skins and fur it was hard to tell what it really was. It roared like a lion and pulled out its sword and...
I woke up in my bed sweating and in a panic. I thought...
"Maybe I won't go through my time machine after all..."
Not wanting to risk influencing past history, the time machine I created was different in the sense that one does not physically travel through time, but mentally. This is my frist time using the machine and have decided on Stonehenge as my destination to find out what it was really there for.
Before anything materializes, I am slammed with a wall of foul smells. Animals, rotting foods, and dirty people. Noises of children playing and others shouting are mixed with sounds of carts and footsteps. As soon as I catch my bearings, I instantly realize people staring at me. I try to imagine what these supertitious people are thinking after seeing me step out of thin air. I can only manage an awkward smile and wander off into this town that is definitely not Stonehenge. I stop a man passing me to ask some questions and learn that I am in a small town a short distance away from my intended destination. He offers to take me there while inwardly I smile knowing he couldn't have seen my appearing act earlier. We start to walk making small talk on the way. My excitement overtaking me, I ask about Stonehenge and its uses. I immediately realize this is a mistake since everything seems to slow and even the air itself becomes thicker. My vision blurrs and sooner than I can fully grasp what is happening, I am back in my time with my machine in the dark. Confusion coming over me I frantically look around and seeing the reason for this glitch in my program fills me with complete disappointment and frustration. Dim red letters form a memo on a screen saying "insufficient historical information". I lean against the wall and slide down wondering if we will ever know what Stonehenge was truly for.
I’m standing in the middle of the time machine, a small invention that I built two years ago for a science project in school. Ever since then I’ve been so busy that I haven’t had any time to test it. Just last week I started a new quarter in my college, and so a new class that I’ve been waiting to take: History of Western Art. As an assignment for this class, I had to write a report on prehistoric times, and I suddenly remembered my old time machine that at that moment was collecting dust in my garage. I realized that this would be the perfect time to use my time machine, and actually go all the way back to the prehistoric times for my report. As I press the buttons to activate the machine, and set the time and location, I get excited as I am about to visit the most famous cromlech ever to be built: Stonehenge. As I’m waiting for the machine to start up, a loud noise begins to rumble from the motors, and a white thick smoke begins to fill the garage. Suddenly I feel a great zap all over my bones, as if I’ve been struck by lightning. After a second, I realize that the rumbling sound, and the thick white smoke ceased, and I open my eyes to a huge open field. The ground was dry and the soil was loose, and every time the wind blew it lifted up the soil and moved it all around the place, and the sky was beautifully colored as the sun was starting to set. In the distance I see the silhouette of a building made only of huge slabs of stones aligned in a circular position. Some of the stones were placed vertically creating the posts, while others were placed on top of some posts in a horizontal position creating the lintels. I begin to approach the building, and as I stand in front of it I am amazed on how people from this time were able to move these huge stones 20 miles from their original place. While I’m studying the building more closely, I hear the steps of people approaching the site. I quickly hide behind one of the stones, and observe a group of people approaching the building. As they arrive they are humming a tune while one of them takes out a piece of a sharp carved stone and stabs it directly into the heart of a man that was tied up. As the man falls into the center of the building, the others begin to praise and dance in a ritual form. As I witness this, I’m filled with terror, and decide to make a run for it, hoping to reach the time machine and to get back home. Behind me I hear the men yelling, and I hear their feet stomping the ground as they chase me like a pack of cheetahs. I’m now halfway there, when suddenly I feel a cold stab in my back, I fall into the dry ground, my vision starts to blur, and I feel like I’m sinking into darkness.
Time Machince Journal Entry: January, 6th: Entry 1 My head is booming my hands are shaking, I look out my window and witness that I am face to face with THE PREHISTORIC STONGEHENGE! WOW This Machine really does work... I slowly stand up and raise the lever to open the door hatch. I slowly step out onto the steps and notice the green. The grass has a more bulgy feel than grass back in the present time which has a more grass blade feel. I then continue towards the Stonehedge i see the sun going down and notice with the available light the grainy texture of some of the Stonehenge's. I inspect the texture with my index finger for a feel of the stone and see some stone particles that look like crumbs as they slowly fall from my fingertip, they fall fiercely and i notice a huge storm is coming as the light is slowly dimming away. I shall continue to recollect this information later for a i cant see my writing in the dark..To be continued until i can get some light.
The deal was that I could not know what place on earth or what event I would witness. They kept these rules to make sure people did not try to change the past, I guess it was the downside of time travel. I wondered what event I would land right in the middle of. I was excited to go, I could not believe that I had won a radio contest and now I would get to see the past. I went into the machine and everything became dark, it seemed like a long sleep. It was as if I had been in the time machine for far too long. The doors finally opened, I could heard the "whir" of the mechanisms moving them. I stepped out feeling my legs cramp up from having been in there so long. The smell of trees is the first thing I noted, I begin to look beyond the trees at a large open area. People are gathered in an area, I wonder what is going on. I walk closer and note the large circular area of earth which has been cleared. There are some men gathered there waiting for something. "Lost?" One man tells me that they are building "it" with the large stones which were to be brought here, the rest of the men are bringing the stones. I suppose that many people know about this "thing" he speaks as if it were common knowledge to them. I am not yet aware of where I am or what it is I am witnessing. A while later I see what seems to be a rock coming closer over the horizon. There are men pulling the rocks with rope, and trees underneath them as some ancient form of wheels. All the men begin to cheer, "At last the they are here!" I guess that they must have waited a long time. Some run off to try and make it go faster. I stood there in awe. As time passes they bring more and more and being arranging them, They begin to lift one up using some contraption made of trees. They pull and lift, and some push slowly. The first stone goes up. Almost en entire day and 2 stones are up. I begin to see it taking shape. The arrangement of each stone was in a certain spot, It had some purpose. I walked over noticing that one man had what seemed to look like a blueprint. As I try to look over his shoulder a faint sound gets my attention, its almost foreign at this point. I find the sound coming from my wrist. A watch beeping, time is up. Damn these cheap radio contests!! I get back to the ship and hear some electronic voice hoping I enjoyed my trip. I wish I had seen more.
The cold morning dew surrounding every grass blade around me soaked into my bare skin as I pressed on outward from my vessel. Crisp and full of life, the air that I breathed into my lungs left me feeling invigorated being as I was exasperated from the journey that seemed an eternity. My eyes, as they gazed upon the rugged stones that lay near me glistened with curiosity as to whom stood at their base. I bellowed out my greeting to make my presence known. Then there as I stood, this man arose from his rest and said, “What!? Who is there I say?” I carefully crept from out of sight and said, “I am Artemis goddess of the moon.” “Let me ask, why is it that you gaze upon my home with this device?” “I Emrys my lady.. am just seeking answers as to why the moon lights my night.” Mortals usually do not wonder about such things but, I looked into his eyes and saw such fear for the future. I exhaled but six words. “The Sun is what you seek.” I turned away as I knew my time had come to leave. Such phrases give hope and wonder to such few but, I suspect that may be enough for now. Running to my vessel I glanced back at the circled stones and yelled to him, “You must find what you seek with the Henge, Be well and keep hope!” The last moment came to pass as I left his era and my last glimpse of his smile brought faith back into my life.
It was time to test my new time machine. I was planning on going to the future. I typed the year I wanted to go to, and I was ready to leave. It was working I was no longer in my house. While I was traveling through time something weird started to happen, the years started to change randomly and suddenly the time machine stopped.
I stepped out and saw nothing else but grass. It was getting late and cold when I heard some weird noises. I tried to follow the noises but I ended up in a stone structure, made up of huge stones, I had never seen something like that in real life before, then I realized I was in the Stonehenge; the time machine brought me to the past instead of the future.
I was admiring this amazing stone structure when I heard someone coming, I hide behind one of the huge stones, I could smell fire but I couldn’t see. I tried to get closer so I can see what was going on, I ran behind another big stone making sure no one saw me. As soon as I got closer I saw what they were doing, these weird looking people were having some kind of a ritual, they were burning dead bodies. I got scared and started running, something fell and they saw me, they started to come after me. I started to run faster, but
I couldn’t remember where the time machine was. Will I be stuck in this pre-historic era? Will I find the time machine and get back home?...to be continued.
As I step off the time machine the air is smokey and the atmosphere is dark. There are screams and crys of mercy. A 60 ft. wicker man is blazing in the middle of an inner horseshoe of rocks; people are packed inside of it. Barbarians surround it and authorities watch from atop of the massive Sarsen Trilithone stones. There are people who look like wizards and druids. I run through ancient, Bronze Age burial grounds and out to the Heal Stone(ironically), for shelter. I watch with fear from a distance. I am the only gender of my kind here. I awake to a blazing hot sun. I realize it must be the summer solstice and that I am at Stonehenge! The greatest most massive calendar ever invented! I go rob a grave for the bronze and gold and then I return home.
It wasn’t until I stepped inside the contraption that I had constructed with duct tape that I began to feel nervous. Wondering if the rubber chicken would conduct the electro-magnetic flow to the time warp converter properly, I realized that my calculations were off and it was too late. What have I done? The whole time machine began to shake as I started to experience what felt like the biggest acid trip ever. Suddenly everything stops, and with the sound of an oven timer “bing” I was standing on a beautiful country side wondering if I had successfully traveled through time. The first thing I notice besides the scenery is a smell of freshness that I had never encountered (pre-car era). My moment of tranquility was interrupted by the sounds of whips cracking and women screaming, which prompted me to turn around immediately. From my grassy vantage point, I looked across the meadow to see Stonehenge. The Stonehenge! The massive blocks are unweathered and there are many smaller posts around the larger stones. Long lines of hooded figures walk towards the architecture, they had naked women on chains screaming as they were drug towards that alter of death as human sacrifices. My jaw dropped as I noticed that there was a silvery reflective space craft perched on long legs over the huge configuration. The center of the monument is painted red with the blood of virgin sacrifices to the Gods from the sky. “Ha! I knew it!” In a moment of utter thrill, I grabbed my camera from the saddle bags on the time machine and snapped a few pictures then boarded my vessel. “ They still won’t believe me.” by wendy berghuis
As I evade my vessel the air is thick with mystery. Directly in front of me stands a circle of enormous rock formations reaching for what seems like miles into the sky. What happened here? There is an alter placed at the center of the circle and it makes me beleive that some sort of religious cult worshipped here, perhaps even performed rituals at the very place that I stand. Then I notice that the stains upon the alter appear to be fresh. When I place my finger upon the marble block visions of war, treason, torture, and even murder, or justice as it seems, appear before my eyes, or were it in my mind? I begin to feel nautious and dizzy. I stumble to a pillar and hold on for dear life. How increadibly strange it was to still see visions after I awoke from the blackness. Creatures, something alien to me, were circling, and chanting in some ancient tongue. As I reached for the rubble below me to steady myself in the quick of what was happening all went silent. I would later discover a rose without thorns upon the alter. I left it for fear of what may come should my fleash make contact with the ancient circle of mountainous rock again. I would later depart feeling spiritually content, and yet left questioning all.
As i walk out of the time machine i look around to see the amazing little people moving and pushing, what seams to be, stones that are the size of a bus. to my amazment i watch them closely, hiding behind one of the stone so not to scare them. one of them notice me and startes to scream at me in a weird language. i try to run away but one of them catches my legs and pulls me towards the center of this odd looking building of stone. to me it looked like a place to do a offering so in my fear i kicked the tall man that was holding my leg and run full force to my time machine. as i climb in it i look back.....and they all are smiling at me.....
to this day it still confuses me.
It was dark brisk night in England. Giant stones positioned in a way that I had never seen before. People were all clamering around something in the middle of what I gathered was Stonehenge. The moon was full and the wild animals were scarce to the area. Almost an eary scarce; it was as if they knew smoething was happenening and didn't want to be near. A stagered twords the giant stones to see what the clocked people were doing. They held torches in their hands and were all huming or chanting something. The wind seemed to pick up as the chanting got stronger. I got closer to see symboles painted in red on the ground at the center of the stones with everyone gathered at the enge of them. A body of a young man laided in the center with red dripping out of his body. Blood, his blood and the marks were of his blood that these hiduse people gathered around chanting. This is no landing site, no calander, but a place for people to worship whatever demons they saw as Gods.
At first I wasn't sure that I was even gonna make the trip to Stonehenge due to time machine engine issues. However, somehow I made it there. As I walked out onto the giant rolling hills of grass I felt very anxious inside. In the distance I could see the stone structures and remembered studying it in previous Art history classes. I jogged over to the structures and began taking as many pictures as I could with my fancy camera. I suppose I was making too much noise when an old man approached me in wonder of who I was and what I was doing. I very nicely introduced myself and learned that he was "Henry" the watcher of the structures. I felt safe and asked him if he could educate me of there historical monuments. While I captured a beautiful sunset Henry sat with me and told me story after story. Apparently this was built as a form of calendar. It was amazing to hear what men went through to make this layout successful. I was getting a little tired and was ready to get back to Tampa. I shook the mans hand and got back into the jankey time machine. Thank god! I made it back. Okay, now off to the Time machine shop for a oil change and tune up.
I set the time limit for one hour, punch in the coordinates, and launch the time machine. I'm off to Stonehenge again. I appear in the center where the priests have gathered, awaiting my return. The believe me to be a god and their king. I helped set up laws and orders, even crowned the legendary King Arther. I tell them bits and pieces of what the future is like, but not too much. If they knew everything, the future could change. My watch beeps, telling me my time is almost up. I take one last look at the great stones before me and bid them farewell, for now.
I am squished into a line. I appear behind the next person in line. The person behind me mumbles in some language I don't understand, and then shoves me. It’s strange that an archaeologist would be treated like this but then again no one knows what that is yet. I glance around, people seem to be forced into line, hands bound, waiting as the stench of burning bodies mixes with the blowing breeze. Fog laces the ground and around the moss covered large stones as the line moves on. They place the man in between the stones under the large one placed on top. Others under other stones are prepared too with a rope around their necks. They are all hung at once opening a portal in the opening of the stones behind them, like a door way for their spirits it seems. Perhaps they are being sacrificed to the sun or a god it seems, I will never know, I am next in line shoved under the damp cold stones and a rope is placed around my neck. I push the button on the remote in my hand and as I am strung up, my body disappears. I awake on the floor of my basement. I seem to have brought a souvenir, the rope still dangles from my neck a bit aged and burned off at the end.

Eureka! Finally I have gotten all of the last kinks and quirks figured out on this machine. You see, I have been building a time machine for about a year now. As a trial run my destination is Stonehenge. The prehistoric monument located in the English country of Wiltshire. I like most have strangely been fascinated with the purpose of these three-dimensional enormous stone slabs. I packed my travel bag and prepared for transportation. Perfect! I timed my arrival just right, Stonehenge is still under construction. Now the tricky part finding out the meaning of this massive mess. Everyone is diligently working; I approach the gigantic marble slabs, and its workers for some answers.
“Hey, excuse me! Who is in charge of this operation?” the response I received was, “hey man, whad up! no way man, you don’t know? Whoa, no way man, Of course dude its Queen Gi-Gi. Duh!” “Alrighty then can you point me in her direction?” “I would love to man but she isn’t here right now she is out checking on the trees, man.” “What do you need her for?” “Just came to check out what you guys are building here.” “Well if you want the most accurate description you will have to talk to the Queen, but I can tell you that it’s a calendar for us to know when our crops are blooming.” “Well what crop is it?” “Awe man, you will have to come back and Queen Gi-Gi will give you a sample and explain everything to you, man. Then you will completely understand.” “Ok then, tell her I will be back tomorrow around the same time.” “Alright man, see you then bro.”
Excited for my answer and very curious about this sample my informer speaks of; I transport home and patiently wait for morning to return so I can finally get some answers.

I opened my eyes slowly, unaware of my surroundings. Sitting up slowly my head began spinning and a wave of nausea swept over me. I glanced around slowly not recognizing the place. Suddenly the memories came flooding back from just moments before. It started with the contraption I found in the basement of our new home. Unbelievably the homemade time machine had blast me back to some unknown time where I was stranded. Suddenly a fiery pit opened from in the ground and the Devil pried his head out. Not noticing me lying in the small damp ditch behind a rolling hill, the Devil through these large stones into the river just as a friar approaches to drink. “Now no one will know how these stones came to be here!” the Devil shouted as he began to descend into the earth. “That’s what you think!” the friar shouted as the Devil’s head lowered below the crust. As quickly as he had gone down, he was back. In a rage he threw a stone at the friar stinking him in the heel. Suddenly I realized what was going on. Remembering the old myth about the “Friar’s Hell Stone”, I could not believe my eyes. How could this be happening right in front of my eyes! Suddenly a door opened about 4 feet to my right. The sudden noise struck the Devil’s attention and leaped toward me. I dove into the doorway just in time to wake up dizzy in my basement. I’ve never gotten that old machine to work again. -Christine Eubank
Bored on a Wednesday night, sitting on my couch with my two dogs, Mani and Skye, curling up next to me by my feet, my mind starts to wander. I start to think, what can I do to keep me entertained, I had nothing to do the following morning. I decided to go outisde and start to build a time machine. Dusting off cardboard boxes and duct tape that made me sneeze from the dust, I had everything I needed to create my carboard time machine I have been wanting to create for a long time.
After pulling an all night project, my time machine was complete! I used colored sharpie markers to design a keypad and cut out a window on the box to simulate the monitor and taped a saran wrap to add the shiny effect.
I stepped into the box and I even asked my two 80lb dobermans to step into it with me. I closed my eyes, told the dogs to stand still. I reached outside the box, through a hole I had made to reach out to the press POWER button. I felt the indentions I had made with the markers on the cardboard box for the POWER button, and off we went. All of a sudden a weird buzzing sound came out of nowhere and I opened my eyes and there it was, a place I had wondered about too many times, Stonehenge. All I could see were people as high as the Empire State building walking around us with digital cameras and posing for pictures.. I then realized I was an ant! Yes, an ant! My dogs were ants too! We stood beside this green plant with an overpowering smell, it was a copper canyon daisy plant. As we looked around, me and my new pet ants followed me, being scared to be stepped on, we avoided the heavy traffic of stomping feet surronding us. I was not having fun and wondered what I had to do to get back into the time machine. I always wanted to see Stonehenge, but not as an ant. I turned around and noticed a shadow getting bigger as we felt a breeze coming towards us, “Oh No!” I screamed as I saw the bottom of a tennis shoe with the NIKE logo getting bigger coming towards us...I closed my eyes and heard that weird buzzing noise again, and we were back in my home-made cardboard time machine. As I opened my eyes and looked for Mani and Skye, they had already bolted out of the box and I jumped out too, wondering what had happened.....”Did that really happened?”

"mary, come on hurry up, its a beautiful day outside... our morning jog today is gonna be nice..." "hold on ali, i can't find the other sneaker..."mary tells her. "man you would loose your head if it wasn't attached to your body." alia responds. "i know" mary replies with a sigh.
....a few minutes later....
mary runs out of her room hopping on one foot as she attempts to put on her other sneaker... so where was it? ali asks. mary laughs, it was in the closet she responds. ali shakes her head and tell mary i swear you look but you don't see.
so they finally leave the house for their morning jog...but while jogging they make a remarkable discovery. it was some sort of machine and it was abandoned.
...so the two girls to go in and explore...
"i wonder what happens if i press this button?" ali says as she presses it.
!!!VROOM!!!VROOMMM!!!
the machine begins to spin out of control.
THUMP!
mary and ali fall to the floor. mary tells alia, "i think we've stopped..." ali replies "i wonder we are at?" as mary says "i guess theres only one way to find out...YOU FIRST!!!" "why do i have to go first" alia screaches. mary replies, "because you're the monkey so its in your nature to be adventurous... so gonna stay here moaning and complaining or we gonna go out there and figure out we're at? its not like you are going out there by yourself..." fine, ok she replies lets go.
mary and alia finally step pout..."wow, those colors are spectacular" mary says as she admires the sunset... "we need to figure out where we are at before the sun finishes setting." ali says. mary replies " well lets go that way because look theres something over there."
...so they begin to walk...
... about 20 minutes later...
"man when are we gonna get there, those things seemed closer; we've been walking for a while; my pinky toe is starting to hurt..." ali tells mary. "what is that smell?" mary asks. ali takes a deep breath and she responds "smells like a campfire." "so that means we must be closer than we think." mary replies.
...they continue to walk...
"WOW! i feel tiny standing here" mary states. alia replies " that's because you're a midget!" as they hid behind the ginormous stones observing what seemed like some sort of tribe. they were feasting, dancing, and chanting around the fire at the center... it was very amusing to see them. ali turns to mary and says "i wonder how often they practice because they are all on cue!" mary responds, "i wonder what they're doing... its kinda creepy... lets go, i don't think they'll be to happy if they catch us." ali interrupts "shhh look, look, they stopped and now they're all pointing at the sky, these people are really weird and i can't understand a word that comes out of their mouth." the girls look up at the beautiful night sky trying to figure out what was going on. what those people where pointing at. there wasn't a single cloud in the sky and there weren't any city lights to interfere with the stars that looked like an endless sea of diamonds... but then all of the sudden the moon looked like it was filling up with blood and all of the sudden all those people drop down to the floor and once again begin to chant. mary blurts out "ok, i've had enough it time to go." ali turn to mary and say "ok, this is giving me the jibby jibbies." so they start their walk back to the contraption.
Time is a strange thing. If you think about it is'nt really real. Which is funny cause there I was stuck in a soft peat bog about 30 yards away from a large stone structure. I looked at my controls and dials. The time ring read 2600 Bc. Geographical coordinates lined up with england or rather where england would be.
Well it was no mystery I was right next to stonhenge. It was almost finished only a few more blocks needed to be qaurried and carried.I had rememberd from my studies how the blocks were cut from the qaurry some 240 miles away then pulled by man and beast on sleds made of heavy wood. They then slid the stones onto boats and floated them down the river.
Monmuments such as these had always intrigued me. Stonehenge or friars heel as it is also known but not before the 17th century was built in 3 stages spanning about 6-800 years. Truly amazing feet as far as I was concerned.
