A weird noise caught my attention as my time machine continued onward through time. Looking at the dial I notice that the glass is cracked. "Probably from hitting the dash," I mutter. My time machine comes to an abrupt halt as a I land in a different time. Peeking out the windshield of my contraption my eyebrows raise in mild interest. I'm outside of what seems to be a city. A shadowy figure catches my eye and it's of a young man. As I raise my gate to find out more about this place and the people the man dashes away. "Hey wait!" Quickly sprinting after him I go through tunnels and twists through the vast architecture around me. Each time I came into a tunnel I'd spot the garment the guy was wearing and continue to follow him. Finally catching my breath I lean against a wall in the shade and try and get air into my burning lungs, the dust from the ground isn't helping much either my throat was dry and tasted of dirt. Glancing around myself for once I look up to see two lions above my head etched in stone. Standing and taking a few steps back I gaze at the structure in awe. The art was magnificent and the preciseness of each placed stone made it possible to still be standing. A masculine chuckle gathered my attention to the man that now stood under the arches of the gate. The one I had been chasing gave a lopsided smile which made me smile back wondering who this guy was. Thinking I should get back to my time machine I begin to back up when he makes a noise and I look back at him. He was pointing to himself and saying something then pointing to me. He wanted to know my name. I pointed to myself and stated, "Amber." The man gave another smile, then it vanished as if he'd seen something,he approached me then took my hand and practically dragging me back to my time machine. Confused I was about to say something but he stopped me. Finally I pointed to myself and repeated my name then pointed to him. He looked at me and said "Apollon." My machine suddenly shut the door on it's own and Apollon backed up with a soft smile on his face and waving goodbye as if he'd known it was going to do that. Looking to the controls I notice that the machine was starting up. I quickly go over to my console and type in Apollon wondering if he was someone of importance. Reading the script I paled realizing that I may meet up with the man again.

I woke up the next day and walked to the bathroom. I walked back out to find a note on my dresser. It Reads" Thank's for the fun time last night hope to do it again" Anubus. After reading it I was confused, all I remember about last night was a couple of bottle of hennessy, but whatever. I put on my time watch ready for my next trip. I travel to the Early Bronze Age (About 3000-2200 B.C.). After looking around I realize that the Cycladic civilization of the Aegean Sea flourished at about the same time as the early Egyptian and Mesopotamian civilizations and I thought that was very cool.
I looked around and realized that I was at AssoS It was founded in th 8th century BC by a colonists from Lesbos, who built the temple o Athena in 530BC. Looking around the place was b eautiful. The roof was covered with dark brown painted tilesOne triglyph was placed above each column. Slabs (metopes) were placed between the triglyphs and both elements were united to each other. A boar, a centaur, two male figures facing each other, a sphinx, a horseman and competing athletes were depicted in the reliefs on the metopes. After looking at the beautiful place I set my Time watch back to egypt cause I like it there better then any other place no mater what.

This time I set my machine for 1600 BCE. I am going back in time to see if I can figure out anything about the ‘snake goddess.’ I arrive on the site of the palace of Knossos on the Aegean island of Crete, Greece. Entering, I walk immediately into one of the four main entrances, the air filled with dirt and dust. There is another room just following that one, with corridors connecting the rooms. There are many rooms, almost as if this is a labyrinth of some sort. One could get lost in this place with its 1300 rooms. This palace seems to stretch on and on for about 6 acres. While walking through, I discover a theatre and extensive store rooms. The store rooms contain pithoi (very large vases) that hold oil, grains, dried fish, beans, and olives. As I continue to walk through the palace I find that many of the items were created at the palace itself, which has grain mills, oil presses, and wine presses. As I snoop around I find stone holes beneath the pithoi. I stick my hand down the dark hole, scared that something may bite me. I feel something very cool, hard and smooth to the touch; it’s gold! I grab some to take back with me… It’s not stealing; I am just taking a souvenir. I would pay at the front but I don’t see anyone at a desk with a register. As I turn to walk out and exit the palace I see the item that I came to research. Sitting on a shelf to the side of one of the rooms is the snake goddess. Sitting next to the figure is a man wildling. I ask if I can hold the statue to take a closer look. I hold her tiny body, admiring the craftsmanship that I believe this man might have done. I tell him that he has done great work on this figurine; it’s so life-like. I really like this figure better than the gold I have taken so I bribe the old man to let me take her, and I tell him that in exchange I will give him two of my gold pieces. Being a peasant of the palace, he was very willing and accepted the gold. I take hold of the woman proudly and stuff her into my backpack and head for my time machine. “Quite a treasure”, I think to myself. I think I should take ‘souvenirs’ everywhere I go in this time machine from now on. People might actually believe my stories.

I decided to go back to about 1600 BC and check out the lifestyle. I stepped out of my time machine and into a land filled with mountainous terrain to my left and large flat plains in the surrounding region. Up ahead I could see a gathering of people so I strolled down their way. One of the people turn to me and start talking about his feelings of excitement towards this ritual performance looming in the near future. I listen intently as he depicts this snake goddess who also represents Mother Earth Goddess. She is the protector of the household; the snakes she are holding are said to represent fertility in the male and in the crops. We head toward this cave that is dimly lit inside and he hands me some grain he has been holding. I cannot enter without some type of offering; we make it inside and the crowd starts some prayer-like hymm. Imitating these people I just silently move my mouth and pretend like I know what is goin on. The chant is over and everyone rumbles quietly. A smoking apparatus filled with opium is passed around; a tea is also in circulation. It has a hint of honey which I'm almost positive has derivites of opiets as well. I finish my tea feeling incapable of comprehending much more and voyage back home.

I jumped into my time machine and set the dial once again. The Mechanics have been functioning well lately so I had no worries. Before I knew it I was descending into the time of 1580 BC. As the doors opened slowly I realized that I was somewhere in the center of the Mediterranean and there were people all around me. As I began to walk this narrow dirt road There were people along the side of the road selling and trading almost anything one could imagining. It was kind of like a flea market but, these items were way more interesting. I was a little thirsty and noticed this woman selling this beautiful clay looking flask. " Hello, a flask" I thought to myself " gotta love what must be inside of that". As I approached the woman I realized I have nothing to trade but then she reminded me of my hair as she pointed to it. " What? seriously?" I really was thirsty though soo... yep I cut it but, only about 4inches. As I walked away I began to sample the clay flask. Tasty! There was a very interesting design of an octopus covering the outside of the Jar. I looked around more but wasn't interested in anything else and I defiantly wasn't going to cut my finger off next to make a purchase so I headed back to the Time Machine. I think what ever I drank made me a little drunk because I didn't really remember the ride back to Tampa. At least I didn't get pulled over :)

As I awoke I began to feel the dull pain in the back of my head, "OW" I said to no one in particular as I felt the bump. I opened my eyes and saw the light from the display unit. I was so disoriented that I did not realize what had happened. I thought back and remembered what had happened last. I came to the conclusion that I had hit my head. I looked around for my glasses, I could barely see the reflection from the lens. My glasses were on the floor. I grabbed them and after a quick wipe on the robe I was given by the priest-god I put them on to read the display. It read "2300 b.c, Crete." Since I had not had the chance to find out about this era. I did not know what to expect. I grabbed the sandals which I used on my last adventure, I removed my glasses and stepped out of the machine. It looked to be sometime before sunrise. The land was grassy and cool with dew. I could feel a cool breeze which smelled as if it came from the sea. I thought that I must be close to shore, the only real thing which I remembered about Crete is it being an island. I climbed a nearby tree to try and get a better view. I could see where the sea was from here. I could also make out a very large building. I thought it would be a good idea to go towards it. As I began to walk towards the very massive building I notice a girl who was pulling a rope from what I could tell was a well. I thought it would be a good chance to get some information about the place. I was hesitant to approach, I knew that with the robe I had on she would think I was royalty. I went closer to the well anyway. She looked up and said "I shall not fetch your water." she went on to say "what do you seek here?" I told her that I was from another place and wanted to learn about the people here. She packed all her water. We then sat and she told me about the people. She told me about the building which was still a bit far in the distance. It belonged to the King Minos, She said that it supposedly had so many rooms that many people thought of it as a maze. She said that they gave homage to the mother goddess. She did not say much else on that. I had a vague image of a birdlike female, or someone who was up very high. She had also mentioned a minotaur who devoured Athenian youths and maidens to avenge the death of Androgeous who was Minos' son. She drew symbols in the sand as she spoke. I tried to remember this language for later reference, It seemed hieroglyphic.
I thanked her for the information, I got up and went back towards where my time machine was. The sun was only beginning to rise, and no one had passed this way. I opened the doors and slowly got in, I waited and then slowly punched in the destination to arrive back home.

I have learned my lessons from past experiences, to research a little before busting into the past. I am going to the island of Crete in Greece. I am seeking the Palace of Minos (Labyrinth). It is the first, and most ambitious palace built, as the islanders come out of their Neolithic level of village life.
As I warp onto the Island of Crete at Knossos my breath is taken from me. It is awesomely beautiful here! The rigid mountain terrain contrasts against the smooth serine ocean,( definitely hitting up some trails while here! )
I see a ripped, Trojan man ahead; he is probably from one of the epic poems. I better chat with this fella! My self confidence is low so I just follow him. Lucky me, he brings me to the Palace of Minos! The maze building is built over a large area of land. The myth of Labyrinth is of the half human, half bull offspring of Queen Pasiphae that devoured Athenian youths and maidens to avenge the death of Minos’ son Androgeous at Athenian hands, until he was killed by Theseus.
It has a modest exterior and a rich interior. There are many individual units that are small and ceilings are low. The walls are intricately decorated and the masonry is excellent. http://faculty.evansville.edu/rl29/art105/img/minos_toreador.jpg The columns are made of wood, hence the reason the structure is nonexistent in the future. They have smooth capitals (tops), and they taper towards the bottom.
It is so busy in here! It is like city hall in New York. There are store rooms and workshops; it looks like this is the center of administration and commerce. I reach the most important room in the palace, the Megaron. It is a long hall with a hearth at the center and a roof supported by four columns. It is entered through a vestibule,(porch). I walk in and find a ceremony of worship taking place. All the hard bodied men turn to look at me. “I am a prophet, be good” , is what I say, (Seriously, what would you say in a situation like this!) I tell them I come from a place they will never know of. “I am the goddess of entertainment. “ Then I start to belly dance. The men start to cheer. I do my best to entertain, then tell them in 5 mins the snake lady will be up bare chested. “ If any of you hot, hard bodied men try to follow me Labyrinth will show up and kill your children and ladies. Then I go hike through the country side, and warp back into my time.

In order to satisfy my deep fascination with music, i decided to have my time machine take me to 2800 BC. In this period musicians were highly regarded as entertainers and transimters of history. I visited an artist that was known for making beautiful marble sculptures after getting inspired at shows all around the Aegean Sea. He was in the process of making The Harpist which measures about 8.5" in height. Although the paint used on the marble did not survive to the modern age, this artist in fact did use it. He painted eyes and lips on these sculpures. These sculpures were emotionally charged as we are able to see in figure 4.2 in the book. Most of the harpist seem to have been women who sang while playing the harp. I was quite impressed with the level of sophistication and dedication the artist was devoting to this sculpture. It reaffirmed to me that music transcends history as an intimate form of traditional art. I left the artist working diligently on his sculpture. It was time to go back home.
Haris
This time, I decided to add a new feature to my time machine. This new feature was designed to take me to a more specific point of the area that I wish to visit. Instead of walking to my desired destination after arriving at the country, this new mechanism would take me to the exact spot I command it to. So, to test it out I planned yet a new trip to the past to see how my new addition works. After studying Aegean Art in class, I was a little let down to learn that, because of the lack of scriptures from this lost civilization, there is little information left to make us understand and learn more about their religion, culture, and overall way of life. I was also fascinated by the frescoes made in this time. Their simplistic style, elegant forms, and lively colors reminded me of the hieroglyphs in Egypt. Because these frescoes were more exposed to the outside, and weather, they are far from being well preserved like the ones deep inside the pyramids in Ancient Egypt. This was a perfect opportunity to test out the new addition in my time machine, go to the past once again, and see in person how these magnificent frescoes were really like. As soon as I got home I went to the garage where my time machine was standing. Without any hesitation I quickly typed the time (1500 BC), the location (Knossos, Crete), and typed the exact destination in my new feature (Palace of Minos). Then, wiggling my fingers with excitement, I pressed the “time travel’’ button. Instantly I was transferred to a beautiful and strange place. This was a huge room; it had tall ceilings and huge, open windows. I got close to the nearest window to get a view of the palace, and instantly I felt and smelled the fresh breeze of the ocean. Outside I could see other parts of the palace, it had long open hallways that connected to the rooms, and like this room, the others were very open with tall ceilings, and wide open windows. The walls had beautiful tan colors, and were made with bricks, wood, and mud. It had tall wooden columns that held the ceilings, and some walls were decorated with beautiful colored fresco designs. This palace was huge! It was five stories high, and it occupied an area of around 6 acres. To my left, there was a huge wall with an amazing fresco that instantly caught my attention. I saw the paintings of the dolphins and fish, and I suddenly realized that this was the Queen’s Megaron. I was actually inside the queen’s room! No wander this room was highly decorated. It had a huge bed that stood in a higher place in the corner of the room, there were beautiful silk curtains and sheet spreads, and colorful hand knitted rugs. The room smelled like incense, and marvelous aromas, as it was filled with exotic flowers that decorated the colorful pots and vases. The smell of incense was starting to kick in, so I left the room to find out more about these frescoes. Walking out of the room, into the hallways, I could see different frescoes painted in the walls. The colors were so bright and vibrant that they looked as if they were just painted. The lines and figures of the animals and people were very simple. Unlike the Egyptians’ hieroglyphs, the human and animal figures on these frescoes were less geometric; the lines were more curved and soft, and the figures were posed as if floating in mid air. The figures and animals were presented with movement, and less stiffness, unlike the hieroglyphs. The overall composition was all framed with decorative designs that were painted with vivid colors and geometric shapes. As I observed the frescoes the whole building began to tremble. “Ookay… that’s my queue!” I quickly ran to my time machine and went back home before it got destroyed and I got stuck in this time. Setting my machine to get back to the present I sighed and said to myself: “No wonder this place got destroyed with all these earthquakes! It’s a shame really, I wish I could’ve seen more.”

When I open my eyes, I was in some strange building. The guy next to me gives me the most terrifying look as he runs away from me. I believe this new body was dead. Anyways, I went outside to see where I was. I was in Athens and
it seemed like a good time because the streets were filled with people. I headed down to get a closer look and saw seven maidens and five men on one side of the street while everyone cried on the
other. Meanwhile, A man kept yelling, "only two more men for the sacrifice." After a few minutes of silence one steps forward and says, "I will defeat it!" As he walks to join the others, the crowd pushes me in and before I realize what happened the man that was yelling earlier said, " that's seven, we're off." As we walked, I talked to Theseus, the man that was going to defeat "it". He told me that we were heading to Crete to be devoured by the Minotaur,a monster that was half human and half bull, in order to please their King Minos, son of Zeus and Europa. A few days after we arrived we were all thrown into a giant labyrinth. In panic, the others ran their separate ways. Theseus calmly walked in and marked his trail
with a thread that Ariadne, daughter of Minos, gave him. She had also given him a magic sword that could help him defeat the Minotaur. We merely walked a few minutes and the Minotaur walks around the corner.

I charged in and Theseus drew his blade. With one swing the Minotaur launches me over the walls and
into another part of the labyrinth. As I ran through the maze to aid Theseus, I found and led the others to the thread so they can find the way out. After everyone was out and safe from danger I ran in and found
Theseus. The fight was almost over as Theseus looked out of breath. The Minotaur raised his fists for a
final blow but before the end I ran in and push Theseus out of the way. The impact buried my legs into the
ground but allowed me to hold down the Minotaur. Using this opportunity, Theseus delivers the final blow. The Minotaur stands up in pain and then dies falling straight at me. I struggle but to no use. I close my eyes hoping that it would suppress the pain but I didn't feel anything. When I open my eyes, I was standing
on a hand in the middle of the ocean with wings on my back. As I turn around I hear a voice, "Hero,
I have followed your adventure from Egypt to Sumer to Crete. You have defeated monsters that could be
classified gods. I have saved your spirit so that you may aid us. I attached your spirit to the body of Icarus, son of Daedalus. The wings have been permanently attached so that you can soar through the skies. One day we shall call upon you, till then enjoy immortality."

With that the sea god Poseidon leaves and I am left wondering what the gods needed me for.

I opened my eyes excited. I was finally going to be home and no more of these adventures through time anymore! A nice cup of Tea, and a long hot shower sounded like heaven to me; even if i had just bathed and was now finely dressed thanx to a certain God.
As my eyes focused I saw that the surrounding area was dark, and I saw no lights. Looking arounnd for anything familur I got up feeling cold stone bellow me. It was chilling and I felt that I wasw in a dangerus place yet again. This was something I didn't like at all. A cold wet area in the dead of night did not sound fun at all. It must have been some back alley and that thrilled me very little.
My eyes focused on stone walls and wet dripping area that I was in. Something that was very very scary. This was not a place that I wanted the Near Eastern God to send me. I looked up to see I was in some sort of underground area in God knows where. I was hoping I would be sent to my home not some doungen like place that seemed ancient. The sounds of hooves on stone running filled the air with laughter that chilled me to the bone. Deep breaths and scraping metal on stone ever few seconds. If I was indeed back in my time this was a yet undiscovered area and seemed that it was best left that way.
A dark figure stood in front of me . A siluet of a bull on top and human on bottom. Not something that looked pleseant and appealing one bit. It seemed to have a smile, if a bull could smile, on its face as it charged at me head and horns down with vigures speed. Not knowing what else to do I did the one thing I swore not to do since I was ripped from one time to another. I activated the machine that started this while thing via a controler on my wrist I wore.
The thought that this really was my time in a place unknown and sealed off for none to find skreamed in my mind and terrified me. I just left a time that might have been my own, but at least i will live on...

I awake to the smell of fish and salt water and the sound of men shouting orders above me. The rocking of the merchant vessel makes it hard for me to get out of bed but I stand while grasping a nearby post for balance.
I found it odd my time machine decided to transport me this way. It seemed a dream when I typed in "1500 B.C. Crete". I found my way to the deck where men were running around with pottery of all different sizes. We seemed to be docked and men were unloading jars onto a wagon with an unpatient looking merchant standing by the docks. I looked over to a table to the right that was covered with jars with different paintings on them. I lifted one up to see a beautiful octopus painted nearly all the way around it. I pulled out the small wooden stopper to smell the contents. The sweet aroma of red wine came across my face. I couldnt resist a taste and just as I lifted the jar to take a quick sip, a man shouted in my direction and started coming towards me. I quickly put the stopper back in and shoved the jar of wine onto the table only to push another off the opposite side. Oil was spilled everywhere. I tried to pick up the broken pottery but the man was even more angry than before since I spilled goods across the deck so I decided now would be a good time to leave. I ran down to the room where I awoke, jumped onto the bed and sat with my knees to my chest and arms wrapped around my knees. I squeezed my eyes shut and all of a sudden everything was quiet. I opened my eyes to see i was sitting on the floor of my time machine. I realized I was holding something and I looked to see what it was. Staring back at me was an octopus eye and a few tenticles painted on the oily and broken piece of pottery.

I had set my time machine to 1650 B.C. with my destination being in Akrotiri, Crete. Soon after I had arrived there a man approached me and said that I was to paint a mural on a wall that would honor the "Snake Goddess" or "The Mistress of the Animals". He pointed me to a wall and introduced me to an Egyptian man and told me to begin. I asked the Egyptian which goddess he thought would be best and he just stared at me and said a bunch of gibberish and kept pointing at the wall. He shook his head and started applying plaster.
"Oh yeah", I thought, "I set my translater to Ancient Crete not Egyptian." I was not planning on running into an Egyptian. Anyway, I could not decide; so, I went with both.
We finished applying the plaster and started to paint immediatly, because to create a fresco effectively, the plaster needs to still be wet. He picked up his pallet of paints and started to paint the goddess.
"The goddess is going to b..." and he cut me off, waving his hands around and flinging paint on me and all the while he was talking in his gibberish language. He looked frustrated and obviously thought I was below his level of intelligence. As he was continuing to fuss at me, I rolled my eyes and shoved him a few feet to the left. His eyes were bulging out of his head as I pointed at the wall space he was now in front of. I reached for his brush and had a small match of tug-o-war and received it after a quick pull.
"Paint...Here" I said loud and haltingly (as if it would help).
"Yes?" I nodded and stroked the wall with the brush, "Here."
We spent all day on the fresco and into the night we painted by fire light. I painted her on a throne and with a snake in her hair and a giant griffin behind her as a guardian. I also painted an oil jar near her. Oil was considered sacred because of its many uses and the olive tree was even worshipped and called "The tree that feeds the children." Oil was used to create there light, heat, perfume, and supliment the medicines and food and was often offered to the gods and the dead. In knowing this, I thought it would be a nice touch to the frecso. The Egyptian painted a girl offering Crocus, which is a plant that the spice saffron comes from.
After finishing the fresco I waived goodbye to the Egyptian and he mumbled things under his breath and walked away. Soon I was home again and searching the internet to see if my work survived.

After my last History of Western Art class, I decided to go back to my time machine and learn more about that period.
Carefully, I opened the lid of the cardboard box I had created my time machine with, and stepped inside. I reached outside and pressed the POWER button and said "Aegean Art" 3 times. POOF!
I opened my eyes to a naked screaming male filled with anger and frustartion....yelling out loud words that did not sound pleasant, even in another language.
Suddenly, I was whipped with a burning leather whip on my back and was being asked to hand over some of the tools lying next to me on the dirty floor. It seemed that I was the assistant to the sculptor sculpting Poseidon's bronze statue. I laughed when I saw the statue being carved and looked at Poseidon. They did not look alike, but I guess when you are the ruler, you get what you ask for. As I picked up a steel rasp, Poseidon pointed at me with anger in his voice and said something to the sculptor. The sculptor whipped me again on the back, apparently i was not understanding what tool to pick up or Poseidon did not like the fact I laughed out loud. I could feel the rage he had in his voice by the strong winds coming through the cracks in the stone walls. I started to get worried and thinking to myself that I was not going to get out of here alive, so I slowly got up, grabbed the sharpest rasp on the ground and as quietly as I could speak, I said "Luis Mireles, 2007" three times and POOF! I was back home. I quickly got out of the time machine and accidently tripped over a book and stabbed myself on the leg with the rusty rasp. Needless to say, I am at the hospital getting a tetanus shot.

As I set the remote down I tended to my nose bleed from the sudden fall from time. It is now around 1500 b.c. in Palaikastroo, Crete. My eyes are blurred over with tears as I glance around the room which was dimly lit and smelled of stone and earth. An older, Aegean woman was making a vase in the corner of the room. Her hands were covered in wet paint. She gestured for me to sit down. I watched her hands go cover the vase constructing every clean and neat detail. She began to speak and I set my remote to translate for me. “I am making the vase to celebrate the octopuses life. Its called a Dendra Vase. We celebrate the sea and its creatures because we live and prosper from the sea. Over the years it has fed and nurture our city and inspired our works of art” The octopuses tentacles stretched over the vase consuming it with dark rich colors. I would say it was about 11 inches tall and bulb like with a thin opening and two small handles at the top. She handed me a brush and I picked up the smaller vase next to her and began to paint a smaller more wavy octopus. Mine did not turn out as good as hers did because I knew at any moment I would be shoved back into space. The following week at school I saw my vase on a web site doing research for a history class. It was still intact just the way I left, it right next to hers.

As I emerged from the portal once again, I looked around to see green grass blowing in the wind and the smell if salt water was in the air. I was wondering where I was so I started to walk in the direction that the smell was coming from.
I came across a town right on the water. I asked where I was and I was told Crete. From what I could remember this island was a big trading route. They traded with main land Greece, Turkey, ect...
I thought to my self that I wasn't going to get involved with this village but it would be nice to check out the famous labyrinth. Once I had found it I began to walk around in her for a minuet and before I knew it I was lost. As I turned a corner there was a man standing putting what looked like the finishing touches on the labyrinth. He told me that his name was Daedalus and he designed the labyrinth. I asked him for help getting out. He told me that he would do the best he can but he designed it but still kept getting lost in her. After walking for a while I asked him why he created it. He quickly replied that it was King Minos who ordered it to keep the minotaur in. The minotaur was said to have the body of a man but the head of a bull and was the off spring of Pasipha and a Bull. After walking around for about 5 hour we finally made our way out and as I exited my portal opened once again. I was once again off ripping through the time line.

After a few weeks of resting of my adventures in my time machine, I decided to try it again. I entered the time machine, and pressed the green button. I heard a weird noise coming from the time machine suddenly thick white smoke filled the time machine, I could barely breath. I was scared I didn’t remember this happening last time, but I could feel the machine moving so I didn’t have time to fix it. Suddenly the machine stopped. I opened the door and got out coughing, it took me a few seconds to recover my breath. I was lost in time again. I started walking, I saw a low hill and a palace on top of it, I wondered what it was. As I got closer a man came to me and warned me that if I got in I would never get out, I laughed and kept walking. I entered the palace and after a few minutes of walking through rooms and corridors I got lost. I noticed the palace was like a huge labyrinth. I remembered reading about it; I was in the palace of Knossos in Crete. What the man had said to me made perfect sense now, I kept walking and entered what is called the throne room, I recognized it because of the paintings on the walls. As I turned around I saw a man sitting on the throne, I assumed it was king Minos. He saw me and started laughing, I got closer and he told me: “Now you’ll never get out of here, you have entered my labyrinth and no one have ever found the exit before, they all have been killed by the minotaur, the guardian of my palace. The only one that knows how to get out of here is Dedalus, but you’ll never find him either.” I got out of there running, I needed to find Dedalus. I didn’t know where to go, it really was a labyrinth. I heard something weird, the noise came from the room next to where I was. I went thinking it could be Dedalus, instead I found myself trapped by the Minotaur, i started running followed by the Minotaur. After a while I got to a chamber that looked like a prison, I heard someone screaming behind a wall made out of stones. I found a weird tool that helped me break up the wall, I was almost done when I heard the Minotaur coming, I jumped into the hole I had just made. I fell into a weird looking room, someone was there with me, but I couldn’t see, it was too dark. I got scared, the person that was there started walking toward me, he helped me get up and told me not to be afraid of him. I asked him if he knew how to get out of there, he told me he was Dedalus the architect who built the palace. I said to myself “I’m saved!” he gave me a pair of wings he had made and we flew out of the palace. Finally I got back to my time machine and got out Crete, I pressed the green button and asked myself “where will I end up now? wherever it is I just hope to get to a safe place.”

"Freeze Jag Off!" I could hear someone yell. There I was coverd in vomit with double vision starring down the service pistol of some NSA douche bag. My head was ringing I could barely make out what he was saying. I thought it was something about getting down and putting my hands behind my head. Well before I knew I had jerks boot on top of my face, the cold steel of his pistol pressing against my temple. I thought there was no way out.
Suddenly my machine sprang to life the same eerie light that always grew to envelope the machine before a leap shone even brighter when outside the machine. I could tell from the whirring sound it was getting ready to jump. I was still hooked up to it by my umbilical cord like life support moniter! I wasn't sure what would happen having never made a leap outside the contraption. Suddenly the light grew to it's brightest point and thwip we were off.
The time machine traveled by creating a bubble in the matrix of reality. Everything inside that bubble was unnaffected by the natural stream of time. I grasped the umblical cord and climbed into the cockpit. I couldnt close it though something was blocking the door. I looked down with horror as I realized it was that NSA jerk's arm. He must have tried to grab me just before we leapt. Well that sucks I thought to myself as I pried his fingers of my shirt.
I checked the chronometer. The chronometer meassured the displacement in the time field, simply how far back you were going. I estimated it to be about 1200 Bc.
The gps was moving rapidly toward greece. Crete to be exact. I blacked out before we landed. I woke up about three hours later. I realized the time machine had cloaked itself! Something very odd was going on here.
I looked around and from the arhcitecure i surmised I was in the height of the minoan civilization. I was beutiful everywhere people where doing daily chores. Laughing and smiling. The sealife themed frescos they where famous for were everywhere.
I hadn't noticeed before but all of the women had exposed breasts. Talk about going from one extreme to the other. It was simply remarkable to think that this place and time existed. These people where so free and loving toward one another. They didn't seem to have a care in the world. It was a beutiful moment. Then suddenly without warning the time machine powerd on again. I braced myself for another insane ride.
I step out of my time machine on a misty morning on the coast of an ancient Aegean Island. I walk around for a bit until I find a small village. I brought a change of clothes with me to match the times so I wouldn't seem out of place, allowing me to walk around freely. As I walk around the village I see people with carts full of marble used for creating the many vases and sculptures known to come from the land. I see many shops and workshops around, this must be the market. I stop for a moment to waatch the potters make their pots and the sculpters their statues. Some are of a woman, I'm guessing a fertility goddess. I see other sculpters making various figures, such as the kouratrophoi, musicians, and hunter-warriors. There were many more in all sorts of shapes and sizes. They were high on detail. What wasn't sculpted was painted on.
My watch is beeping, time to head off to the next location...

I left the black portal after traveling through time...reaching a new destination. I had landed on the island of crete, in the city of knossos in the 16th century B.C. I found the city to be very amazing, filled with great historical landmarks and beautiful artwork such as bronze statues and intricate stonework. The area surrounding smelled of work, something sweet, yet very pungeant. I came upon a great castle and was shown inside as a special visitor. A woman led me through the rooms, all so beautifully painted with frescoes, and all the doorways accented with rosettes. I also discovered large basins filled with oils, grains, and wine in large storage bins known as magazines within the walls of each hallway. Then the woman took me to a burial ground of some type. She called it a tholos, it was a tomb shaped like a beehive consisting of rounded walls, pits in the earth lined with stones called "shaft graves", and a stele, a type of head stone that stood above the entrance of the tholos. She also told me the story of the two children who had just been buried here. She claimed that the King, King Minos, became a minotaur in spirit when he passed. He had built a Labyrinth of certain death to ensure he may feast on souls of children to keep his spirit strong even after life. Tonight these children were sacrificed for the king, and put to test in the labyrinth, which was like a complex maze where he awaited them, hungry and angry. My stomach began to turn and I knew it was time to leave this beautiful kingdom with its dark lore. So I bid the maiden farewell and found my portal once again, sifting through time to a new place.
"Watch your head giraffe, I didn't have you in mind when I added the door." "Whoa Whoa! Gee, thanks, make me feel real special why dontcha. Whoooooa" the giraffe reponds. The monkey turns around and replies "You're so feisty...besides iI hadn't even met you yet when I built this contraption. And snookums what in the world are you doing in roller blades?" "I'm learning to roller blades..." giraffe replies as she looses control, the monkey screams for he to watch out! but it was too late the giraffe had already been stopped by the control panel and her head went straight into that panel. the monkey just stood there in astonishment, wondering how she got stuck with the giraffe with the funny knees... "how do you expect to be able to roller blade with those funny knees of yours, come on get up so I can check the damage." monkey tells giraffe. "I don't know what you're talking about my knees are just fine" giraffe responds as she gets up, and move out of the way. The monkey climbs up and begins to check the status of the contraption. After a various minutes of barely being able to see her because she was so far into that control panel and being so small, she finally come back and says "well luckily you didn't do any real damage, for the most part you just broke the class and a few cables came loose but it still works; so I was thinking of going back to see the Palace of Minos. I've heard many stories about it, specially about how it was destroyed time after time but always emerged again and always more extraordinary than the previous." "Ok so lets go!" responds the giraffe full of excitement for she had never been to a different time period. "Ok so now we are you gonna have to set this thing manually... Giraffe you see that dial over there I'm gonna need you to set it to about 1700-1500 BC, give or take a few hundred years... Manually it harder to get precise with it." The giraffe stares at the monkey for a few seconds and the replies "UHMMMM! Helloooo! I have hooves...(while waving her hooves up in the air) how do you expect me to TURN the dial, you idiot!?!?! "Sorry, replies monkey, I'm just not use to hanging out with creature that don't have opposable thumbs... don't worry, I'LL set the dial." as she swings over. And off we were... and after no time we had arrived. Monkey opens the door. The site was absolutely beautiful... we were at the top of a hill.. and at the bottom there was a river... and apparently we also weren't far from the sea. The area was very nice especially for the giraffe who thought she was in heaven, everywhere she looked there were nice big trees with lots of fresh leaves, and there where no other giraffes in sight to share those leaves with... After spending a little while outside the monkey calls the giraffe "come on lets go explore the palace..." The giraffe replies "Ok,I had enough, I'm full, beside they taste slightly different" the giraffe follows the monkey into the palace. Both the creature were in complete astonishment, with the beauty of the palace, all those bright and bold colors, and all the shiny things... When suddenly the ground begins to shake, and the palace begins to crumble to pieces. The monkey grabs on to the giraffe's neck. Who ends up roller blading right out of the palace and straight in to the time machine. Although not exactly by choice because she had lost control of the roller blades the minute the ground began to shake. The monkey quickly jumps to the dial and returns them safely back home. The giraffe was really to retire those roller blades for a while.
